WhatsApp delays changes in privacy policy by three months

On 4 January, WhatsApp announced that it will make it mandatory for all its users to share data with its parent company Facebook without any opt out provision. A petition filed at the High Court of Delhi claims the updated privacy policy to be verging on user surveillance and threatens India’s national security. Faced with backlash, as users in India and other countries began deleting WhatsApp and installing Signal and Telegram, WhatsApp announced that it has delayed the implementation of its new privacy policy by three months.
