Whatsapp begins in app payments in India
WhatsApp in partnership with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has launched money transfer operations. Using a unified payment interface (UPI), customers in India will be able to make real-time transactions with over 160 supported banks. To use the services, one must have an Indian bank account and debit card. Anyone can receive money as long as they have a UPI supported app.
