Walmart to extend the use of blockchain technology to improve seafood supply chain
Walmart has been using blockchain based solutions for food supply chains since 2017. The company announced a pilot project for blockchain tracked supply chains for its seafood producers. The project will start tracking shrimps imported from India to the USA.It is a collaboration with IBM’s Food Trust programme using blockchain to increase global food traceability. The pilot project will start with a small group of farmers in Andhra Pradesh, India. Blockchain tracking will help maintain food safety standards throughout its journey from the Indian Ocean to the USA
