Vodafone CEO Ahmed Essam has expressed worry about potential reductions in investments for 5G if regulators block the proposed merger between Vodafone and Three in the UK. The merger is currently undergoing scrutiny by the Competition and Markets Authority(CMA), with the completion expected by the end of 2024, pending necessary approvals. The review process aims to ensure compliance with regulations and protect consumer interests.

The companies have pledged to invest £11 billion in the UK over the next 10 years to create one of Europe’s most advanced standalone 5G networks, promising that every school and hospital in the country will have access to 5G by 2030.
