Vietnam threatens to shut down Facebook for allowing political content

Vietnam has warned Facebook to increasingly censor local political content or to cease its operations in the country. The government has required the platform to remove local anti-state posts and content criticising the government. Facebook has faced mounting pressure from the government over its content policies since April., when the platform had complied with a government request to increase vigilance over political posts. According to Reuters, Facebook has since refused to increase censorship and has therefore been threatened with a shut down.
