Vein recognition technology may be integrated in Egypt national ID

A private company, FinGo is proposing use of finger vein technology for Egypt’s digital ID. The company argues that fingervein recognition is more secure as it is unique, cannot easily be replicated and requires the person to be alive. It would therefore eliminate the need to carry cards.  The technology is powered by Hitachi technologies and according to Mashable Middle East, it has already been explored by Manchester City for public transport.
