USA unveils import duties on France in retaliation for tax on tech giants

The United States has unveiled import duties on France in response to the country’s tax on tech giants. The tax will be applied to twenty-one categories of three types of products: cosmetics, soap, and handbags. However, the USA said it will hold off on implementing the tax for up to 180 days to allow the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) to come up with a multilateral taxing digital service before the end of 2021. Also, France will not enforce its 3% tax on digital services until 2021.
