USA to cooperate with Finland and Sweden on quantum information science and technology

In early April the US government signed two joint statements on cooperation in quantum information science and technology (QIST) with the governments of Finland and Sweden. Each statement outlines the intention of parties to cooperate on QIST in areas such as quantum computing, quantum networking, and quantum sensing. As part of the cooperation, the parties commit, among other elements, to: (a) creating inclusive scientific research communities and tackling issues of common interest such as equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility; (b) sharing research methodologies, infrastructure, and data, when appropriate; (c) building a trusted global market and supply chain for QIST research and development; (d) supporting the development of the next generation of scientists and engineers needed to expand the field; and (e) leveraging multilateral opportunities to discuss QIST matters of international importance and respective policy issues.
