USA explores digitally inclusive partnerships in Brazil

Dorothy McAuliffe, the US State Department’s Special Representative for Global Partnerships, led a delegation of US tech companies to Brazil from 23-25 October 2023, emphasizing the need for an inclusive digital technology community and expanding skills training.

Dorothy McAuliffe, the Special Representative for Global Partnerships at the US State Department, led a US tech companies delegation from the State Department’s Partnership Opportunity Delegation (POD) program to Brazil from 23 October to 25 October 2023. The delegation aimed to build digitally inclusive communities through partnerships and engagement with Brazil’s government, civil society, and private sector.

During their visit to Brasilia, Special Representative McAuliffe held meetings with Brazil’s National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL), Ministry of Communications (MCOM), Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC), and Ministry of Science and Technology (MCTI). The focus was on exploring investment and partnership opportunities related to Brazil’s efforts to expand connectivity, provide digital skills training, and develop regulations for emerging technologies.

In Sao Paulo, McAuliffe and the POD delegation engaged with state and city officials, AMCHAM’s Digital Working Group, tech accelerators, entrepreneurs, telecommunications representatives, and university leaders. Discussions revolved around identifying potential models for US investment and partnership expansion in Brazil’s thriving tech sector.
