US Senators release new federal consumer privacy bill

Senate Republicans have introduced a draft bill ‘to establish data privacy and data security protections for consumers in the United States’. According to Bloomberg, Senator Chairman Roger Wicker released the consumer privacy bill, with Senators John Thune, Marsha Blackburn, and Deb Fischer as co-sponsors. The bill proposes to establish individual consumer data rights and a requirement that businesses allow consumers to access, correct, delete, or port their data.
