US Senators demand answers from Facebook, Google, and Apple over monitoring apps
According to Mashable, both Republican and Democratic senators have expressed concerns over recent revelations over Google, Facebook, and Apple’s role in a market research program, which paid young users US$20 a month in exchange of complete access to their data. TechCrunch had revealed in the end of January that Facebook had been paying users to install a VPN on their mobiles, which allowed the company to access all user phone and web activity. Facebook later announced it would shut down the Android version of this research app.
