US Department of Energy establishes AI office
The US Department of Energy (DoE) has announced the establishment of an Artificial Intelligence and Technology Office, to act as a coordinating hub for the work carried by the DoE in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). According to Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, the new office will have the mission to ‘elevate, accelerate and expand DoE’s transformative work to accelerate America’s progress in AI’. It will also facilitate partnerships and access to federal data, models and high-performance computing resources for AI researchers.
