US-CERT warns against malware that could cut Internet access

US-CERT issued a warning against a newly discovered malware targeting networking equipment, which could have the potential to cut Internet access for hundreds of thousands of users. The malware, VPNFilter, has infected at least 500 000 devices in 54 countries, according to Cisco’s Talos Intelligence unit. The malware affects a wide range of networking equipment, as well as network-attached storage devices.
