US broadband providers merge
The US telecommunications company Charter Communications has completed the merger with Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks. Charter has nearly quadrupled in size as a result of the transactions, going from 6.8 million customers to about 25.4 million in 41 states and will now be the second largest US broadband provider after Comcast, informs Ars Technica. Although the merger was approved by the FCC under several conditions, it is opposed by the Stop Mega Cable Coalition that warns of a power concentration, worse services, and a price rise.
