UNICEF calls for global coalition to help girls develop STEM skills and knowledge to become problem-solvers, shapers, and creators

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, UNICEF released a report on reimagining girls’ education for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The report looks at the significance of STEM education in transforming gender norms in the education system and enhancing quality learning opportunities for girls. In this vein, the report pinpoints key actions that can accelerate girls’ transition between educational and technical expert jobs in STEM industries. To this aim, it calls upon all global, national, and regional stakeholders to collaborate in dismantling the barriers that girls face in developing the skills they need to become users, shapers, and creators of scientific knowledge and new technologies.
