UN agency for civil aviation launches toolkit for drones

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has launched an Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Toolkit, aimed at providing guidelines for UAS operators on how to operate their aircraft safely and responsibly. The toolkit is also intended to assist states with development of UAS operational guidance, regulations, and enabling operation in a safe manner. In addition, it present UAS best practices, lessons learned, as well as existing regulations. When presenting the toolkit, ICAO Secretary General underlined that ‘given the immense economic and social potential of UAS technology, and the variety of factors at play, regulations for these systems and their use must be carefully considered’.
