UK’s ICO postpones British Airways and Marriott UK’s fines after Coronavirus shutdowns

According to the Register, the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has postponed British Airways and Marriott Hotels’ £280 million fines for data protection violations. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, ICO and the two companies reportedly agreed to postpone the legal process until 1 June 2020t. According to InfoSecurity Magazine, the crisis may mean these fines may never materialise, since they depend on the companies’ ability to pay in the future.
