UK’s HMRC forced to delete five million records in GDPR breach

The UK government body, HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has been collecting personal voicemail ID’s to register citizens for tax services and support. Since there was no possibility to opt out of this voice ID collection, the practice has been declared against GDPR and the HMRC had to delete the database. This is considered the biggest deletion of biometric data from a state database to date.
