UK: More protection for children from online pornography

The Online Safety Bill will have more stringent provisions for protecting children from online pornography, announced UKs Digital Minister on the occasion of Safer Internet Day. The online Safety Bill will force pornography websites children from accessing their websites by adopting age verification methods. The age verification technology adopted could range from adults using secure age verification technology to verify that they possess a credit card and are over 18 years or even third-party service for verifying their age against government data.

Sides that fail to abide by the provisions may be liable for a fine up to 10 percent of their annual worldwide turnover, face their site being blocked in the UK and the senior management may even face criminal charges for failing to cooperate with Ofcom the independent regulator.
