UK launches competition for commercialising quantum technologies

Innovate UK, a part of UK Research and Innovation, has launched a competition inviting companies to apply for funds to support the commercialisation of quantum technologies. The available funds – up to £46.8 million – are dedicated to two types of projects: (a) collaborative research and development – focused on identifying a clear market opportunity for a quantum product or service and an innovative project which exploits it; (b) technologies –  focused on solutions to technological barriers to the commercial or industrial exploitation of quantum technologies in the UK. The competition is being funded through UK Research and Innovation’s Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (£153 million) for commercialising quantum technologies.
