UK Government to fund companies to fight child abuse online

UK Government is funding five tech projects in Edinburgh, Poole, St Albans and London, which had won the  £555k Safety Tech Challenge Fund competition with an aim to fight against child abuse online. The tech projects are expected to come up with practical solutions to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse online without infringing children’s right and privacy. Each of the winners will each receive an initial £85,000 from the Fund.

The Safety Tech Challenge Fund was set up by the UK Government to encourage innovation in technologies such as  AI to scan, detect and flag illegal CSAM images without breaking end-to-end encryption.
