UK government commits £320m UK aid package for financial inclusion
The UK government has announced a commitment of £320m to further its programmes on financial inclusion and tackling poverty in Africa. This was announced during the UK Africa Summit in London. The package also additional funding for existing Financial Sector Deepening Programmes (FSDs) including FSD Kenya, FSD Mozambique, Enhancing Financial Innovation & Access Nigeria, Access to Finance Rwanda, FSD Tanzania,
FSD Uganda, FSD Zambia and the FinMark Trust in the SADC region. The money will also be used to set up similar programmes in Ethiopia, Ghana, Sierra Leone and the West African Monetary Union.
