Uber temporarily suspended in Philippines

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in the Philippines has suspended the accreditation and operation of Uber for one month. As explained by Reuters, the order came in the context of ‘a government crackdown on unregistered drivers offering app-based ride-hailing services’, and of regulatory disputes between authorities and both Uber and its competitor Grab. The authority did not justify its order, but it advised Uber to offer financial assistance to accredited operators while the service is suspended.
