Uber inaugurates on-demand grocery delivery in Latin America, Canada and USA

Uber is launching grocery delivery services in Latin America, the USA, and Canada after acquiring Cornershop, a leading online grocery provider in South America. The service will be available on both Uber’s main app and Uber Eats app. Users are able to see food delivery accessibility in local grocery stores and will receive their orders in less than two hours. Uber has increasingly invested in food delivery since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. The demand for this sort of service has accelerated since March. Previously, grocery sales online did not have a relevant market share. During the pandemic, the US online grocery delivery industry achieved a record of USD$7.2 billion.
