UAE to introduce new regulations on drones

Authorities in the United Arab Emirates plans to introduce new regulations covering the sale and operation of drones, with the aim to minimise the risks posed by these aerial vehicles. According to the country’s Civil Aviation Authority, cited by Reuters, the safe integration of drones into the commercial airspace is a challenge. The measures come in the context of recent accidents, such as the closure of the Dubai airport for about an hour, in early June, due to unauthorised drone activities in the surrounding space. The new rules are expected to provide a frameworks for the import, sale and performance of drones.
