Twitter flags Brazilian president tweet about COVID-19 treatment as false
Twitter has flagged as false a tweet posted by the Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro that claimed Malaria drugs are effective in preventing hospitalisations and reducing the mortality rate of patients with COVID-19. Nonetheless, the platform decided not to delete Bolsonaro’s tweet by stating that ‘this tweet violated the Twitter Rules on the publication of misleading and potentially harmful information related to COVID-19. However, Twitter has determined that it may be in the public interest that this tweet remains accessible.’ Users are not allowed to share or like this tweet anymore.
