The ITU joins UNRSF’s Global Partnership

The ITU has joined the UNRSF’s Global Partnership to enhance road safety worldwide by leveraging technology to address critical gaps in national road safety systems.

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) joined the global partnership UN Road Safety Fund (UNRSF) which mobilises financing from private, public, and individual donors and channels resources to high-impact, scalable, and sustainable road safety projects worldwide. In joining the Fund, ITU aims to further reinforce international cooperation to address critical gaps in national road safety systems. ‘Expanding opportunities and access to Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) is at the heart of ITU’s work. ITU works to enhance road safety and traffic management systems by countering technology-related driver distraction, promoting safe user interfaces in vehicles, and developing Intelligent Transport Systems that improve the safety, management, and efficiency of terrestrial transport, while reducing its environmental impact,’ said ITU Secretary General Houlin Zhao.
