Tech giants accused of exploiting Uyghurs in forced labour

A report titled ‘Uyghurs for Sale’ published by Australian Strategic Policy Institute has accused tech giants Apple, Amazon and Google of Uighur forced labour China. According to the report, between 2017 and 2019 an estimated 80,000 Uyghurs were moved from Xinjiang Province to work across China and produce components for tech gadgets. The study highlights that at least ‘ 83 well-known global brands in the technology, clothing and automotive sectors’ are concerned by such practices.
