Tech companies ask the US Congress not to delay the IANA stewardship transition

Several technology companies and trade associations have sent a letter to the US Congress, expressing their support for the IANA stewardship transition, and asking the Congress not to delay the 1 October transition date. In the signatories’ view, the transition proposal ‘includes significant and concrete measures to enhance ICANN’s accountability to its global community’ and it ‘will assure the continuing security, stability and resiliency’ of the Internet’s addressing system. The letter was signed, among others, by the American Registry for Internet Numbers, The Domain Name Association, the Internet Infrastructure Coalition, Amazon, Facebook, Google, Twitter, and Yahoo.
