TasNetworks partners with 42-24 and NNNCo to deploy IoT networks in Tasmania
Tasmania’s energy distribution utility, TasNetworks has signed a deal to roll out a statewide Internet of things (IoT) network in Tasmania together with subsidiary business 42-24 and the Australia National Narrowband Network Co (NNNCo). According to the agreement, NNNCo will build the network with LoRaWAN gateways deployed on TasNetwork assets across Tasmania. Then TasNetworks will use the network to connect IoT devices such as grid safety, street lighting, and digital metering. 42-24 will be in charge of selling connectivity to third parties for their own IoT applications such as local councils, enterprise, agriculture, and other utilities. NNNCo will begin building the network in the second half of 2020.
