Swedish court upholds Huawei 5G equipment ban
According to a Reuters report, a Swedish court upheld a ban against Huawei selling 5G equipment in the country. In October 2020, the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PTS) banned Huawei supplying 5G gear to Swedish mobile carriers due to national security concerns raised by Swedish security service SAPO, which is the decision Huawei challenged in the court. The court’s statement read “Sweden’s security is of heavy importance and the administrative court has taken into account that only the Security Police and the armed forces together have an overall picture regarding the security situation and the threat to Sweden.” A Ericsson spokesman said the PTS’ decision may adversely impact the economic interests of Sweden and Swedeish industry.
