Strengthening 4G/5G on Thailand’s 700 MHz spectrum

National Telecoms Public Company Limited (NT) and Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited (AIS) have partnered to strengthen 4G/5G capabilities on Thailand’s 700 MHz spectrum, approved by the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC).

National Telecoms Public Company Limited (NT) and Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited (AIS) have joined forces to improve 4G/5G capabilities on Thailand’s 700 MHz spectrum. This collaboration, approved by the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), primarily focuses on infrastructure sharing, effectively eliminating redundant 5G investments and optimizing spectrum efficiency.

Additionally, this shared network aims to initially cater to more than 2 million users, with the potential for expansion to 4 million in the future. Importantly, this initiative aligns seamlessly with the government’s strategy to streamline communication network investments.

Why does it matter?

The collaboration will yield a total bandwidth of 2Ă—20 MHz, enabling the efficient expansion of 5G coverage to remote provinces and high-rise urban areas, greatly enhancing efficiency. It promotes efficient spectrum usage and expands connectivity to a large user base, all contributing to the nation’s digital advancement and economic growth.
