Stats show that a majority of domain name registrations in new gTLD originates in China

Recent statistics on new generic top level domains (gTLDs) show that 54,2% of all domain name registrations in new gTLDs originate in China. This amounts to a total of almost nine million domain names. According to the same stats, around 12% of all new gTLD domain registrations were made via a proxy service, and therefore have an unknown registrant. The United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom follow in the top of the countries with the largest numbers of registrants.
