South Korea launches an AI-based smart sewer system

South Korea Ministry of Environment has selected 33 destinations for installing the ‘Smart Sewerage Project’ system. The Ministry selected these destinations after considering smartization suitability, flood damage history, odor status, and the local government’s will to promote the project. A total of 332.4 billion won will be invested in these projects. The system will be based on real-time monitoring) and remote control and management of the entire sewage treatment process. The smart sewerage project is promoted in four areas: smart sewage treatment plant, smart sewage pipeline (response to urban flooding, sewage odor management), and sewage asset management. This project is part of the green new deal of the ‘Korean New Deal Comprehensive Plan’ announced on July 14, last year.
