The US software giant NCR disclosed that it was hit by a ransomware attack. The company recorded an outage from a single data centre on 12 April, which was impacting a limited number of Aloha points of sale applications of the restaurant technology platform that handles daily operations and payment for a subset of its hospitality customers. NCR determined on 13 April that the outage was due to a ransomware attack.

Affected customers had reduced capabilities on specific functionalities in Aloha, NCR’s cloud-enabled restaurant management platform. NCR stated that the impacted restaurants were still able to serve the customers and that the attack did not affect any of its customers’ systems or networks.

While the BlackCat ransomware gang initially took credit for the attack and mentioned it on their Tor-based data leak site, the post was later removed.
