Singapore and Germany signed mutual recognition arrangement on cybersecurity consumer IoT labels
Singapore and Germany have signed a mutual recognition arrangement on cybersecurity consumer IoT labels. The agreement states that Singapore will recognize products with Germany’s cybersecurity label at Level 2, while Germany will recognize products at Level 2 and above. This recognition covers various consumer IoT devices including smart cameras, smart speakers, and more. Germany is the second country, after Finland, to enter into such an agreement with Singapore.
The Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) and Germany’s Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) will sign a Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) on the cybersecurity labels to be issued by both countries. According to the agreement. CSA will recognise products issued with BSI’s label to have fulfilled CLS Level 2 requirements, while BSI will recognise products with CLS Levels 2 and above. The recognition of cybersecurity labels will apply to consumers’ IoT devices such as smart cameras, smart televisions, smart speakers, smart toys, smart garden, household robots, gateways and hubs for home automation, health trackers, smart lighting, smart plug (smart power socket) and smart thermostats. Germany is the second country after Finland to sign on such recognition of national cybersecurity labels with Singapore.
