Self-driving taxis to be deployed in London by 2021

 

Taxi company Addison Lee and autonomous driving company Oxbotica are working to to develop, deploy, and operate self-driving taxis in London by 2021. The latter, a leading startup in the driverless software sector, has been developing autonomous driving applications since 2014, and is already conducting trials with shuttle busses in Heathrow and Greenwich. In September, the company announced a £14 million investment in order to scale up its autonomous activities across the world. Addison Lee has pointed out that they are not planning to reduce their personnel but instead, to create a new type of non-premium service.
