Seattle’s Technology Matching Fund awards US$343k to 15 nonprofits helping to bridge digital divide

The City of Seattle unveiled the recipients of the 2021 Technology Matching Fund, which provides grants ranging from US$11,000-25,000 to community-led projects that focus on increasing access to technology and digital skills training for underserved communities. In total 15 projects received grants totaling $343,000 and matched with $480,795 in community resources. ‘This past year made clear both how essential reliable internet is and how many obstacles to access remain for historically disadvantaged groups and neighborhoods. This investment will help bridge Seattle’s digital divide by making access more affordable and more available for more people while investing in programs that develop the skills required to compete in a digital economy,’ said Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan.
