Saint Louis University opens WATER research institute

The Saint Louis University has established the WATER (Water, Access, Technology, Environment, and Resources) Institute. The institute brings together researchers in the areas of engineering and science, policy and economics, public health, and social justice to deal with water issues. The institute will focus on developing clean water access, protecting aquatic ecosystems, and improving water infrastructure to address societal requirements. Current research projects include testing efficient water treatment technologies, examining the origin and amount of microplastics in rivers and groundwater systems, and using machine learning to estimate the volume of water storage available in the USA.
