Russian Government accuses internet giants of unlawful election interference
Russian communications regulator Roskomnadzor accused both Facebook and Google of illegal election interference for distributing political advertisement at the time forbidden by election law. The allegations of illegal political advertising regarded the publishing of political ads on the voting day. According to the regulator, the fact that American companies breached election laws by publishing political ads could be considered “as interference in the sovereign affairs of Russia and obstructing the holding of democratic election” in Russia.
