Russian court fines Twitter and Facebook over banned content
A court in Moscow fined Facebook five times for not removing content labeled as illegal. The same court fined Twitter 5 million rubles. Both platforms have been under scrutiny for not banning content such as pornographic material, posts condoning drugs and suicide. An official institution of the government reported that Facebook has so far been fined 90 million rubles and Twitter 45 million. Recently, President Vladimir Putin complained about the growing power of large American tech companies, which according to him compete with official powers.
