Ride-hailing app Ola launches in London

Indian ride-hailing app Ola has launched in London, the UK. The app is similar to Uber but offers more safety-focused features. Safety features include a four-digit code that passengers must give to drivers before the beginning of the trip and an artificial intelligence (AI) system that notices deviation in route patterns and makes Ola check with drivers and passengers whether anything wrong is happening. Ola has already registered 25 000 drivers to work with the app in London. The company has also partnered with training units to test local drivers on risk assessment, English speaking, and customer service. Ola will not take commission off the drivers for six weeks to incentivise the use of the platform. After the initial period, Ola will receive 18% of all trips as commission rate, against Uber’s 25% commission fee.
