A team of researchers at the City College of New York is building an unhackable quantum internet in New York City. The team is building the network using entangled photons to create a highly secure and efficient communication system. The team has established a network of six quantum nodes across the city that use quantum entanglement to securely transmit information. The goal is to develop a system that would allow people to communicate without fear of interception, as the laws of quantum mechanics make it impossible for a third party to intercept a message without being detected.

Quantum communication relies on the laws of physics to guarantee secure communication. If the network is successfully built, it could enable communication that is entirely secure from any sort of hacking, as any attempt to eavesdrop on the communication would disturb the entangled photons and be immediately detected. While the network is still in its early stages, the research team is hopeful that it could one day provide a blueprint for a worldwide quantum internet.
