Report shows that the demand for IPv4 in the ARIN region was strong in 2015

A recent report published by Avenue4’s on the State of the IPv4 Market in 2015 shows that the IPv4 market has grown considerably during the last year. The report focuses on the ARIN region (which depleted its stock of free pool IPv4 addresses space in September 2015), and underlines that here the demand for IPv4 remains strong, notwithstanding the progression of IPv6 deployments. It is suggested that IPv6 deployment and IPv4 marketplace activity are running on parallel tracks, the two processes being correlated mainly because of the fact that the shift to IPv6 requires entities to have IPv4 and IPv6 networks running in parallel, as an interim step. The report also notes that the major consumers of IPv4 in 2015 were cloud providers.
