Report calls for streamlining global data protection rules

According to Reuters, the International Regulatory Strategy Group (IRSG) has released a study urging countries to base their data protection legislations on a set of common principles based on existing standards from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The IRSG evidences the practical implications and consequences of data localisation restrictions on the financial services sector in particular, and highlights the key concerns arising out of these restrictions.
