Radiocommunication Assembly 2019 (RA-19) updates resolutions on innovative technologies that play pivotal role in tomorrow’s digital environment

The Information and Telecommunication Union (ITU) Radiocommunication Assembly 2019 (RA-19) was convened on 21 – 25 October 2019 Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt preceding the World Radiocommunication Conference 2019 (WRC-19) from 28 October – 22 November 2019. The conference will address the implications for trillion dollar telecoms/ICT industry and advancing UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The assembly, which was chaired by Mr Sergey Pastukh of the Russian Federation, concluded its meeting with the approval of a range of radiocommunication standards (ITU-R Recommendations) and Resolutions that will have a global impact on future radiocommunication technologies. ​‘The Radiocommunication Assembly has done a stellar job in updating and adopting Resolutions on innovative technologies as well as updating a number of standards that will shape the further development of radiocommunication systems. ​The outcomes of RA-19 have set the stage for the World Radiocommunication Conference, which will play a pivotal role in shaping tomorrow’s digital communication ecosystem, noted Director of the ITU Radiocommunication Bureau Mario Maniewicz.
