Quantum Consortia form international council to accelerate the global quantum industry

Several quantum industry consortiums have been established in the past few years to help promote the advancement of quantum technology. Four of them have now signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish the International Council of Quantum Industry Associations.

The Quantum Industry Canada (QIC), Quantum Economic Development Consortium (QED-C), Quantum Strategic Industry Alliance for Revolution (Q-STAR), and European Quantum Industry Consortium (QuIC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to create the International Council of Quantum Industry Associations, with shared objectives of developing supply chains, opening markets, exchanging talent, establishing international standards, protecting intellectual property, and increasing access to funding. By collaborating on projects and improving communication, they aim to enhance their effectiveness in achieving these goals.

The consortia have been meeting informally for over a year. In April 2022, the consortia released a joint statement for World Quantum Day with the goal of finding new ways to work together to advance the greater quantum ecosystem.
