Palo Alto Networks research analyses cybersecurity IoT issues of 2021

Palo Alto Networks surveyed 1,900 IT decision-makers at organizations in 18 countries in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas on IoT security issues in its second annual report. According to the 2021 survey, 78% of IT decision-makers who have IoT devices connected to their organization’s network reported an increase in non-business IoT devices on corporate networks in the last year. The report’s main conclusions were as follows: (1) the Covid-19 pandemic has made it harder to keep IoT devices secure; (2) greater visibility of IoT devices reveals improvements needed with IoT security. 96% of those who use IoT devices reported their organization’s approach to IoT security requires an improvement; (3) organizations are in various stages of securing their IoT networks, and (4) technology leaders are losing sleep over IoT attacks.
