Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has implemented a third modality, iris recognition, to its existing verification system, rolling the system out at three registration centres in the country. The new technology offers citizens a secure and hygienic option for credential authentication, one not susceptible to duplication and theft. According to NADRA, the system is highly reliable and registered minimal false positives during testing.

The combined verification system consisting of fingerprint matching facilitates image matching and iris recognition, utilises state of the art technology and is highly secure, according to NADRA’s chairman.
