Orange Spain calls on government to cut 5G frequency price

According to a Reuters report, the CEO of Orange Spain has called on Spanish government to reduce the price of 5G frequencies that are to be auctioned in March 2021. Orange Spain’s CEO Jean-François Fallacher said a price cut could encourage investment in the sector. Fallacher added that the company has always said that the upcoming auction should not compromise the investment necessary for the deployment of 5G networks. Fallacher also pointed out that Spain maintains some of the highest taxes on telecom operators in Europe, citing a report by Ernst & Young.
